Core Curriculum days are training days for Specialist Registrars in Trauma and Orthopaedics organised by orthopaedic department in different institution across Ireland under the supervision of the Irish Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. These are organised on monthly basis and overall there are 10 core curriculum days per calendar year. The Core Curriculum calendar can be found here.
IOTA Best of the IOA Prize
IOTA is committed in supporting trainees during the training programme, with this regards IOTA awards a 500 euro prize for the best paper presented at the Irish Orthopaedic Association annual meeting and in association with the IITOS, nominates a trainee presenting at the IOA to represent Irish trainees at the British Orthopaedic Association's, "Best of Paper".
IOTA Trainer of The Year
IOTA Trainer of the Year is awarded yearly to those trainers who are enthusiastic, reliable supporters of the orthopaedic training programme and go above and beyond their work as Trainers to improve Orthopaedic training in Ireland.
IOTA SpR Exit Session
The IOTA Exit Session, in association with the IITOS, is organised on yearly for those Specialist Registrars finishing their training scheme. During this session, trainers in trauma and orthopaedics share their experience in commencing practice as a consultant in Ireland.
